TCA Facial Peels

A TCA facial peel improves the texture and integrity of the skin.

What is it?

The peel solutions used at the clinic contain pure trichloroacetic acid (Tca) ranging from 5% to 20%.

Multiple treatments may be required depending on many factors including: age and nature of scarring/pigmentation and integrity and colour of the skin.

Results

Results vary depending on many factors including the condition of the skin, age and nature of scarring and pigmentation, use of medications and underlying medical conditions and appropriate aftercare.

Because of this we cannot guarantee results. We can only guarantee that this establishment and its specialist will use their best judgement and efforts on your behalf.

Side effects

General Side Effects reported in literature are: pigmentation, scarring, re-activation of herpes simplex virus (cold sores) and disfigurement. Darker skin tones are more prone to pigmentation problems after peels. Although we have an excellent safety record and have not experienced these at this clinic it is important to understand that such complications can occur.

Correct administration hugely limits the possibility of such side effects. Gradual increment of peel depth, use of anti-ageing and anti-pigmentation creams and use of aciclovir to deter cold sores will lessen the possibility of side effects.

Darker skin tones and cold sore sufferers are advised to have less aggressive peels with intervals of 4-12 weeks.
